SmartChoice offers healthy lifestyle programs individualized to the employee based on his/her self-identified opportunities. The SmartChoice non-bariatric programs consist of six sessions over a 6-12 month timeframe and the bariatric program includes monthly sessions over 12 months. Each program is championed by a licensed healthcare provider who is a resource expert on chronic health conditions, healthy eating/nutrition, exercise and/or stress management. All sessions are one-on-one and support the meaningful and realistic goals created by the employee during the first session.

Snack Smart and Healthy

Make your snacks healthy and snack on cut-up or ready-to-go vegetables.  Try something simple like a piece of fruit, a handful of nuts or a piece of part-skim cheese with whole grain crackers. Smart snacking requires you to plan ahead!

Move That Body

Exercise has been shown to aid weight loss, but even more importantly, it helps you keep the weight off. It can lower blood sugar, has heart-health benefits, improves joint mobility, and even improves sleep quality. ADA recommends at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity and resistance training twice a week.

Get to a Healthy Weight

The best way to lose weight is to eat less of some foods.  Start by just eating a few bites less at each meal. Keep eating less by monitoring portion sizes. Set a short term goal to achieve first and set out to change your eating habits forever.
